“Service works and the machine is the best”

Wille is the backbone of Espoo’s street maintenance every day of the year

The City of Espoo’s street maintenance team handles a wide and demanding range of tasks that require reliability and versatility from the equipment. The Southern and Northern areas together operate 24 Wille machines, ensuring that Espoo’s street network remains safe and traffic flows smoothly in all conditions.

Area Supervisor Mikko Koskinen knows that street maintenance doesn’t depend on the season:

“The work is year-round, but winter and spring are the most critical for us. With Wille, we manage plowing, sanding, and removing packed snow, and in spring, sweeping and relocating snow. In summer, the machine is used for loading and patching work. It adapts to everything.”

According to Koskinen, Wille has been part of Espoo’s maintenance operations from the start and has become a trusted partner:

“We have great experiences with Wille, and drivers like it. Its size makes it perfect for urban maintenance.”

The versatility of Wille machines makes them the backbone of Espoo’s maintenance. They operate efficiently on narrow residential streets and busy city centers, where agility, precise handling, and reliable visibility are essential. When the work gets heavy, Wille delivers power. Its performance meets all the demands of everyday maintenance.

Drivers’ clear favorite

Maintenance drivers Janne Heinonen and Jan Skogberg have logged thousands of hours in Wille machines, and it shows in their comments:

“When you turn the wheel, Wille does exactly what you want. That’s a big difference compared to competitors. Visibility and maneuverability are crucial when working in tight city spaces and between traffic signs,” Heinonen explains.

“Wille feels sturdier and more robust. When you attach a boom mower, the machine doesn’t sag. The center of gravity and weight distribution are spot-on, and the hydraulics work exactly as they should,” Skogberg adds.

The duo uses Wille for a wide range of tasks—from articulated plows and sand spreaders to snow blowers and personnel lifts.
“It rarely lacks power. If anything, it’s traction,” Skogberg laughs.

Finnish quality shows in maintenance

According to Koskinen, service and repairs are among Wille’s and Tekninen Kauppa’s greatest strengths:

“The mobile service works excellently. A skilled technician arrives quickly, and problems are solved immediately. Spare parts come fast, and cooperation is smooth.”

He says this has been a major advantage compared to competitors.

Espoo also values Finnish origin and comprehensive quality. “We prefer domestic products whenever possible. Wille is a smart choice overall: long-lasting, reliable, and more cost-effective than competitors in the long run,” Koskinen says from experience.

“We’re running nine-year-old Wille machines that will still be passed on to another user. At five years, a competitor’s machine is often already unusable.”

Smart Link brings intelligence and precision to maintenance

Espoo is looking firmly to the future.

According to Koskinen, new Wille machines will utilize the Smart Link system, which provides precise data by driver and attachment:
“It helps us improve usage and efficiency even further,” he adds.

New hydraulic solutions and attachment profiles also make everyday work smoother:

“Quick couplers and automatic profiles speed up attachment changes. Even if hoses are connected incorrectly, there’s no problem. The machine detects the situation and protects itself,” Skogberg explains.

A strong recommendation for municipalities

Both Koskinen and the drivers agree: Wille has earned its place as Espoo’s trusted street maintenance partner.

“Service works and the machine is the best,” Heinonen sums up.

“Wille is overall the strongest choice for the municipal sector. Features, usability, and after-sales support all work, and that shows directly in work quality,” Koskinen concludes.
